About Brielle

Brielle Epstein, LM, CPM has been attending births as a doula and midwife since 2003. Her goal as a midwife is to provide trauma-informed care to empower and support families in their childbirth decisions, providing them with clinical and educational information and emotional support.  Brielle is the founder of ICAN of Austin, a chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network and is also the former Director of Federal Advocacy for the Big Push for Midwives. She was the Legislative Chair of the Association of Texas Midwives from 2010-2022, ensuring the protection of the profession of midwifery as well as improving safety and practice standards for community birth. After several years working in the environmental justice movement, inspired by the birth of her first child, Brielle became passionate about birth as a social justice issue. She sees access to the midwifery model of care and VBAC as a key strategy to eliminating maternity care disparities.
