The Birthwise Midwives

April Bullock, CPM, LM

April is the mother of 3 beautiful and VERY energetic boys. Born and raised in Austin she is happy to be able to serve Austinites and Central Texans. She is blessed to have had the opportunity to receive amazing midwifery care with each of her pregnancies. After having Jasper at home she became somewhat obsessed with midwifery care. Having had no idea that pregnancy and birth could be such an empowering, transformative event if given the right environment with the right care provider she knew she had found her path into Midwifery. She began an apprenticeship in Austin, TX in December of 1996 with her homebirth midwife. In 1999 she opened Birthwise Homebirth Services and began attending homebirths as a Certified Professional Midwife and State Documented Midwife. With the support of her family Birthwise Birth & Family Center was opened in 2006 and after 2 years she joined forces with Melissa B Light of Light Family Acupuncture to create a more comprehensive health and wellness center for families in Austin and Central Texas.  Additionally, April has trained numerous apprentices over the years, helping to ensure that we have a Midwife for every Mother and is a member of the faculty at the National College of Midwifery in addition to being a NARM Qualified Evaluator. Two of the midwives whom she trained went on to open their own birthing centers. She is looking forward to many years of service to Mothers, Babies, and Families! Proudly offering the most comprehensive, individualized Homebirth and Birth Center Midwifery Care, Waterbirth, VBAC, Family Centered holistic Care.
